Poetry: Pretty Daisy

Walking through a garden on a beautiful day

I had a dream of opening a flower shop in May

Pretty posies and blossoms graced every wall

Girls would order flowers for their dancing balls

I skipped through the daisies dreaming a bit more

My heart began to sing as I imagined the store.

Bending to smell the flowers on a sunny day

My dream began to blossom into a large bouquet.

Then fear squeezed my chest as I began to fight

Worrying about failing, my dream lost delight

A tear began to form and slid down my cheek

I couldn’t take another step my heart felt so weak.

Then he whispered in my ear and I am not the same

I  heard the voice before when God called my name

Dear child, I want to help you grow a little more

Give me your hopes and dreams and I can make them soar.

He dusted off my petals and watered my soul

Knowing I was wilted he began to make me whole

Loving care and friendship is what I really needed

He hid me beneath his wings until I had succeded

I stood in front of the flower shop one happy day

My dreams had grown brightly in the month of May

God had taken much delight in seeing me flourish

He had blessed my heart with faith, hope, and courage.

I opened the door and was surprised by the sight

Pretty colours were displayed to my giggle and delight

God whispered, “This is how each person is to be

I want them to know they are cherished by me.”

An old homeless woman came in my store one day

She was tired and dirty in an unattractive way

People around our town had said she was crazy

I knew she had been just a sad neglected daisy.

She works in my shop and we became friends

The story isn’t over there’s more it transcends

When I treated her with kindness, she began to bloom

Love had transformed her into a sweet perfume

Have you seen a flower underneath dirty feet

Hoping for care from people they might meet

God wants you to treasure each and every daisy

Blessing them with love so tender and amazing.
