The Happiest Days: Leaving Cancer At Home

How can someone be happy when they have cancer, especially stage four cancer? Is it possible to have the happiest days: leaving cancer at home? My daughter-in-law, Jazmin, has shown me that yes, it is highly unlikely – but very much possible.

Jazmin had just come through the worst week, one that caused her to think she was close to leaving this life. She had felt the weight of cancer, and it’s ability to take her precious life.

She had been having difficulty breathing due to the cancerous tumours in her lungs. Then one night Jazmin woke as she gasped for air. She could breathe normally again. Jazmin went back to sleep and awoke in the morning with a sense of peace.

Next month is Jazmin’s birthday, she will be twenty-one.

Jazmin spends a lot of time praying with God on her sick days. When she told me she lays in bed on her worst days and just spends time alone with God – my heart was comforted. I had peace knowing she turned to God during her hardest moments.

Jazmin talks with God like she’s talking to her dad. She asked God to guide her prayers and show her what to pray for.

Once again she told me, “I am completely at peace with what God wants. Whether it’s life or death, whatever brings him the most glory is what I want.”

Jazmin said she has peace and has left the outcome in God’s hands.

After the night she woke up breathing normally, each day her health had improved. I had been here and watched her slowly get better. Then I went home since Jazmin could take care of herself once again. She also had her mom and grandmother who could help out when Eythan was at work.

A week later we made the four-hour trip to visit Jazmin and my son Eythan. As soon as I walked into the house, I saw a completely different Jazmin. She looked energetic and healthy and was bubbling with excitement. The transformation was incredible!

We went out shopping, and Jazmin bought some new pyjamas that were adorable on her. They said, “Hopeless Romantic” on the front. Jazmin told me that she and Eythan have drawn even closer together since her bad spell the week before. She talked about the good things that came out of her WORST week. She saw God at work in her lovely marriage and in the hearts of those closest to her.

During our shopping trip, Jazmin had more energy than I had, and her bubbliness was infectious. She was feeling on top of the world!

Jazmin was having the happiest days: leaving cancer at home, where her heated bean bag, mounds of vitamins and comfy pyjamas resided.

It has taken me years to get to the same point Jazmin has, with God. COMPLETE TRUST, no matter how grave our lives or situations have become. God has used a young woman to encourage me. I hope Jazmin’s story also helps you if you are having a hard time putting your complete trust in God for your loved ones or for yourself.

I have learned plenty this past week about putting one’s trust in God in overwhelming situations. As far as we know, Jazmin still has cancer, but she hasn’t let it take away her beautiful, trusting heart, and desire to live life to the fullest.

Jazmin is having her happiest days because she has left her life in God’s hands💗

*After  I wrote this post-Jazmin shared an unfiltered, raw post of her own, “I know that soon I will be in heaven with my Lord or will be cancer free and sharing with everyone I know the story of how God gave me a miracle and healed me. I want to be here. I want to have kids and a career, and get to celebrate my 50th wedding anniversary with Eythan.” Read more click: HERE
