Hello, I’m Cindy!

From my long country road, you can see our two-story blue house with its wrap-around porch nestled in our eight-acre woods—the place we call HOME. We’ve lived here for nineteen years. My husband, Vance, and I sip coffee on the porch on beautiful summer mornings.
In winter, I become like our black bears of Northern Ontario and hibernate inside by our crackling fireplace with my Bible. I was a flitting butterfly of an extrovert, but with age and living with a quiet, sweet man, I have become more of a stay-at-home girl.

I don’t have many hobbies and I’m new at gardening vegetables but love it. Writing was not a talent of mine until God asked me to write my first book. Now, I’m passionate about my fingers dancing across the keyboard. Speaking at events for women is one of my favourite things to do. I love travelling with Vance, and I went to the Promised Land with my mom last year. I wish I could tell you I’m a great cook, but my culinary skills come and go. I’ve burnt down our BBQ twice, and the fire department knows our address by heart.
We’ve had many storms while living in our home—not the ones that damage the outside of the house, but ones that hurt the heart. After God healed me of bitterness, He made our home a lighthouse to the world as we help others navigate these turbulent times and turn their hearts to Jesus.

I’ve been married to Vance for thirty-six years. He is the love of my life. We had five kids in seven and a half years. Yes, we were crazy! Three bonus kids married into our family and Vance and I adore them. We have two grandchildren and another on the way—these are our favourite little people.

I homeschooled our youngest four children for fourteen years. Our oldest son, Kyle, has severe autism and is the only child who lives at home. The years Kyle went through horrible anxiety and destroyed our home were the ones that drew our family close together. Kyle is feeling much better and has a funny bone like his mother. He brings us great joy!

When the kids were younger, between laughter and fun, they had moments of bickering and fighting. I frequently kneeled, praying for these kids and asking God to help them become followers of Him. He answered my prayers. At the same time, Kyle opened his bedroom window and threw all our household objects onto the lawn. We were a hot mess. Jesus carried us through the tough years.

We are a close-knit family who loves being together. Sunday nights, our kids and grandchildren come home for dinner. We were a one-cake-mix family, but we will graduate to two with the baby coming.
I’m most proud of my relationship with my husband and children and of being a loving and kind mother-in-law and grandmother.
I hope you know me better and we can be friends!
