I met Janina through my daughter Aryanna, who is friends with Janina’s daughter, Olivia. Janina has a beautiful and kind, servant’s heart. Her desire to care and serve others is evident in her everyday life. You need to love to laugh if you’re going to spend time with Janina. Her quick wit and humour are always refreshing. Today she is writing from her mother-heart and will touch your life with her devotion to her family!
Life With Janina
A Little About Me
I am Janina Cedolia, 49 years old, and I have been married for 30 years to Daniel Cedolia. We have two children – Olivia age 23 and Jacob age 21. We live in Laird Township, between Echo Bay and Desbarats.
I am a registered nurse but never did stay in nursing very, long because I homeschooled my kids, Olivia (K-12), and Jacob (K-11) for many years.
My Daily Routine
By the time Jacob was born, I really didn’t want to go back to work; however, I am working now more than I ever have!
My husband Daniel, was self-employed shortly after our marriage, and for the first twenty years of married life. We had a very busy video production company, specializing in extreme snowmobile videos.
The internet slowly killed off that business, so at age 55, my husband (and I) have started a new business selling used pontoon boats. It was successful quickly, to the point that we now also sell new motors and two new lines of boats.

Struggles Of My Day
The challenges I face every day are how to make it all work. How do I, at age 49, take on this physically and financially demanding new venture? I thought we should be easing somewhat towards retirement! NOT! Wives and mothers are actually General Managers….of a household and sometimes a business.
We really do need God’s wisdom to keep the plates spinning, or allow Him to spin the plates and trust that he will keep them all airborne!
My Dreams
The other very big aspect of my life is the fact that our kids have friends in the church College and Careers group, and in their peer group in general, who need love and support. We have opened our home to them- whenever and for whatever.
I never know who is sleeping in my basement; nevertheless, they are welcome any time. We feed them and show them family love, and feel this has become our ministry, especially for the college kids who are away from home.

I am humbled that God would choose to allow us to fulfill this need, which was actually one of my biggest dreams come true.
I don’t really have any dreams per se. I wish we could have travelled, but having your own business for all these years doesn’t really allow for that. I really just want to be used of the Lord for whatever he would have for me.
He knows the depths of my heart….the longings, the struggles, but I have honestly found that He is faithful and fills all the voids!
Without a relationship with God, I certainly would not be able to cope with the challenges of life, especially the chaos that has been the defining attribute of our business life.

My Joys
There is no greater joy than to see your children walking in truth. Both of my children have found their soulmates, and BOTH of them announced their engagements this past week, within four days of each other! My husband and I couldn’t be more grateful to the Lord for preserving them through difficult times and making them into His servants.
The part of my day that brings me the most joy, honestly, is time with my kids.
We are very close, and they tell me about all aspects of their lives, and it is a great honor to be trusted with what they tell me. I trust that any advice I give them is wise counsel from God, given to me to impart to them. I am dependent on Him for this!
I am looking forward to the next phase of life as they move on, yet I will honestly say I don’t know how I will manage to be an “empty nester.” I’ve devoted my entire adult life to raising my children, homeschooling, etc. I will have to find a new purpose in life. My friend suggested power crocheting LOL!!
I value humor and tend to see the “funny” in everything, even when it’s not really funny. If it wasn’t for this, I’m sure I would have booked myself a one-way ticket to Abu Dhabi years ago.

Moments With God
God gives us just what we need to get through all situations. As a result, there is lots of laughter in our home, and I’m thankful for that.
I have always said that kids seemingly need their parents more as they grow older. They need advice, an ear to listen, and a shoulder to cry on as they navigate their way towards adulthood. I have always believed in giving them Godly roots, and wings, so that they can make their way in life with a firm foundation, and the “know how” to move ahead.

My children are encouraged to make God their priority, and their relationship with him. If they do, it will flow to the relationships around them. I am so thankful that my kids have become competent adults, seeking after God with their whole heart, and making an impact on lives around them.
I want the Lord to get the glory and the credit for all of this. He is the One who has sustained me. He is the One who causes our children to walk in truth.
God is the One who cares about the concerns I have on a day to day basis, and He is more than enough!
