Did you grow up with a dad who did everything he could to fight for you? Maybe you had a dad who walked out the door and never looked back. Does true love mean someone will fight for you?
I recently watched a heartwarming true story, Blue Miracle. It had a scene that made me want to ball my eyes out.
Omar and his wife run an orphanage for twenty boys. The bank is going to take the orphans only home, and Omar is desperately trying to figure out how to keep the boys from going back on the streets.
A friend convinces him to enter a fishing contest with a big reward for the winning team. Omar and four of his boys get paired with a cantankerous sea captain.
On the last day of the contest, when they have lost all hope of winning, the fishing reel begins to spin. Omar, who hasn’t fished since he was eight and lost his dad in a fishing accident, is terrified of drowning. The captain needs one of Omar’s team to reel the 350-lb giant creature in since he isn’t allowed to help.

Omar swallows his fear and sits in the fisherman’s chair. He locks the reel into its holder and wrestles with the enormous beast. He begins to sweat and becomes exhausted. He loses all his strength and cannot go on. The old sea captain bends over, hands on his knees, and yells at him, “FIGHT FOR YOUR BOYS!”
With renewed strength, He digs deep within his soul and finds the fortitude to fight for his boys. Omar reels in the 350 lb fish! They receive a substantial reward, and the orphanage is saved.
Omar was willing to risk his life for the boys he loved with all his soul.
God is like Omar. Even though your earthly father may have abandoned you, your heavenly father FIGHTS for you. God will always cheer you on, have your back, and be ready to fight anyone who stands between you and Him. He wants to provide for you, guide you, and hold you tightly when you’re afraid or hurt.
Will you erase the slate your earthy father messed up and give God a clean one? He wants to prove to you that you are His most precious person. He loves you more than you can comprehend and wants a strong relationship.

Give God a second chance. He’s waiting to be the best dad you’ve ever had. His arms are open wide and He’s waiting for you.
Dear Lord, Please forgive me for judging you by how my dad treated me. Help me trust you so I can walk closely with you and have a loving relationship with you. Amen.
